    Position Description

    This position oversees the activities of the Loan Department; ensures accurate and timely loan processing, servicing, and documentation follow-up to support all front-line lending activities; promotes quality mortgage loan customer service and related activities, including the soliciting, processing, underwriting, and loan closing functions for  HELOCs, auto, personal and first mortgage loans, processing and approving all loans. Generates additional revenue from lending products and services; attains established individual and department goals.  Performs direct supervisory duties of department staff and coordinates staff for coverage in all related areas of the department.

    Also ensures that a safe, sound and profitable mortgage loan portfolio is maintained. Oversees the underwriting of loans and is ultimately responsible for issuing loan approval decisions.

    • Essential Functions
      • Develops, administers, and enforces credit union policies, procedures and practices regarding servicing of loan products and accounts.
      • Ensures compliance with all regulatory policies and procedures.
      • Prepares reports for monthly Board of Directors meetings.  Inputs, maintains and submits HMDA report.
      • Reviews and processes all WTD and TUD loan applications.  Follows proper retention guidelines for applicants.
      • Prepares and tracks loan pipeline report on a regular basis.
      • Assists Vice President of Lending with loan approval at all levels.
      • Manages, coaches, counsels, and trains staff to enable them to perform at a superior level in their respective positions.  This includes performance management, setting and meeting department goals, specific measurements, and assisting with personnel issues.
      • Assists Vice President of Lending with assessing department measurements, reporting procedures, and performs timely analysis of results.
      • Ensures timely audits of executed loan documents to assure proper completion of all documentation and signatory requirements.
      • Reviews loan requests for approval using risk-based lending policies and procedures.
      • Reviews and implements loan alteration forms, payroll/periodic payment system changes, subsequent action forms, release/substitution of collateral.
      • Responsible for performance evaluations of staff and for recommendations of salary adjustments, position changes, and disciplinary actions.
      • Responsible for privacy and confidentiality of member information and coordinate and comply with all security procedures of the credit union.
      • Makes appropriate recommendations for changes to products, service, policies and procedures, as needed.
      • Assists with credit union events as needed.
      • Assists Senior Management in developing short and long range plans, strategic plans, and credit union measurements.
      • Supports and carries out the strategic objectives of the credit union.
      • Performs other work as needed.
    • Performance Standards
      • Specific goals and objectives for the department are met in a consistent and timely manner.
      • Staff knowledge is current on guidelines and government regulations.
      • Loans are processed accurately and timely.
      • No compliance issues.
      • Executed documents are accurate and in compliance with all lending policies.
      • Timely completion of performance evaluations for direct reports as well as staff.
    • Qualifications

      Education/Certification:

      • Four-year degree or equivalent work experience.
      • Must be registered with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System.

      Required Knowledge:

      • Must be proficient in MS Office Suite.
      • Knowledge of all lending regulations.

      Experience Required:

      • Four years member/customer service representative experience.
      • Four years supervisory or management experience.

      Skills/Abilities:

      • Requires the development, preparation, and monitoring of budgets.
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
      • Excellent analytical, creative and problem-solving skills.
      • Able to motivate and train staff to ensure the department meet their goals.
      • Excellent coaching and mentoring skills.
      • Able to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
      • Able to work independently and make sound decisions.
      • Valid driver’s license and vehicle to travel.
